In Mark 7:1-15, we see how the Pharisees approached others with judgment. They clung to old traditions and substituted God’s law for man-made ideas, far from Jesus.
Jesus called the Pharisees ‘hypocrites.’ In Greek, ‘hypocrite’ means ‘actor.’ Do not be hypocrites like the Pharisees. Do not skillfully side-step God’s law.
Jesus only wants our raw hearts.
God is looking for character over works.
The Holy Spirit produces fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
There is no law greater against these things.
Galatians 5:22-23
God is looking for heart over appearance.
People judge by outward appearance, but God judges us by our heart.
Do not judge by appearance.
1 Samuel 16:7
God is looking for new over old.
God creates new things out of nothing. God wants to do something new in our lives.
No one gets to Jesus except through Jesus. Jesus wants us to come directly to Him.
Romans 4:17
God is looking for truth over tradition.
Know the truth and it will set you free.
Jesus came to us on Earth to heal the broken-hearted.
John 8:31-32
