Do From Righteousness, Not for Righteousnes
The Birth of Religion
In Genesis 3:7, we read that their eyes were open and they realized they were naked. Their realization of their lack of clothing represented their loss of God in their lives. So, they sewed fig leaves together to clothe themselves. They tried to help God solve the problem. However, this was a man-made idea to solve the problem.
We all have sinned and lost the glory of God. – Romans 3:23
All of our righteous acts are like filthy rags. – Isaiah 64:6
Religion Helps Us Strive to Earn Eternal Life
What must I do to inherit eternal life? – Mark 10:17-27
Inheritance means that someone else did all of the work, and you received something because of the relationship you had with that person.
Listen to God’s commandments. Do not allow self-righteousness to interrupt the presence of Jesus in your life. Do not allow yourself to be tricked into collecting fig leaves. Focus on your relationship with God so he may know you. Sell everything you have and follow God. Understand that you are naked without Jesus.
Eternal Life is Knowing God
The problem with being rich is when it controls you. When the rich trust in their wealth, their self-righteousness keeps them from entering the Kingdom of God.
God has dressed me with the clothing of salvation. – Isaiah 61:10
Jesus taught us that it is impossible to get into the Kingdom of God by our own acts alone. It requires God.
We must seek not to do things for righteousness, but rather to do them from righteousness. Strive to let God lead the way.
